„obsessed with beauty“

Following the exhibition at gallery Mai36 at ArtGenève 2017 we are proudly presenting in a specially curated show various works by the jewellery artist Georg Hornemann juxtaposed with a selection of works by Robert Mapplethorpe and Wunderkammer objects of the Thomas Olbricht collection. Hornemann’s objects open up a dialog related to the exposed works. The exhibition takes place on the Beletage of Georg Hornemann newly restored gallery space in Berlin and is designed like a small cabinet of curiosities. It provides an insight into how artists from totally different times and backgrounds conceptualise their visual language individually by pushing their skills of art and craftsmanship beyond limits. The objects on display sometimes bear subtle references to religious imagery and seek to engulf the viewer in vital questions, such as beauty, sexuality, and ephemerality and eternity.
